Overview

Mt. Baruntse 7129 m high is situated in between Mt. Everest and Mt. Makalu. This mountain in the eastern Nepal is crowned by four peaks and bounded on the south by the Hunku Glacier, on the east by the Barun Glacier, and on the northwest by the Imja Glacier.

The South - East Ridge route is difficult with requirements of technical skills of mountaineering because of being straightforward. There is hard section of 50 degree's angle with a prominent ice cliff to be climbed with the risk of avalanche. The rewards of summit include spectacular views of Lhotse, Everest, and Makalu.

Climbers mostly succeed their expedition to this mountain in spring rather than autumn as being spring is the best season but this doesn't mean that expedition to this mountain in autumn is impossible.  It is one of the few peaks of this height with a high rate of success of ascent along the normal route. The base camp of Baruntse is located near the Panch Pokhari at the height of 5200 m.

This expedition offers a remote experience, and a challenging and rewarding introduction to Himalayan Expedition climbing. Competent alpine ice-climbing technique on slopes to 50 degrees and experience climbing on mixed terrain with heavy packs and good basic mountaineering climbing skills are a must for climbing this mountain.
